Dean Richard Vandenburg was born May 15, 1928 in Humeston, Iowa the son of Lester and Gladys (Tait) Vandenburg. He has lived his entire life in southeast Iowa, and has lived in Wellman since 1999. He worked as a truck driver and at Perfex. Dean died on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at Parkview Manor in Wellman following a long illness at the age of 76 years. Dean is survived by 5 children - Wanda Nau and fiancé Lee White of Kalona; Richard Dean Vandenburg and wife Melissa of Kalona; Kathy Gerdes and husband Steve of Ainsworth; Linda Adam and husband Nick of Wellman; Peggy Strickler and husband Ron of Kinross; 15 grandchildren; and 2 brothers - Gerald "Skip" Vandenburg of Cedar Rapids and David Vandenburg of Humeston. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a sister Margaret; and 3 brothers - Donald, Delbert and an infant.
