Dean Charles Possehl was born April 8, 1936 near Marengo, Iowa, the son of Carl and Mary (McMann) Possehl. He attended Hilton Consolidated school in Conroy . In 1954, he married Shirley Ann Fry to this union were born three children Harlan, Gene and Deborah. They were later divorced. On June 27, 1980 Dean was united in marriage to Marilyn (Mason) Kolosik at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. Dean lived in rural Marengo since 1964 where he was a life long farmer. In August 2011 they moved to Williamsburg. Dean enjoyed horses, traveling to Texas in the winter, telling jokes, watching westerns, playing cards, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Dean was a very loving husband, son, father, Grand father, great grand father, and brother. Dean died Friday September 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by family and friends at the age of 75 years. Dean is survived by his wife Marilyn; two sons: Harlan (Andrea) Possehl of Williamsburg and Gene (Virginia) Possehl of South Amana; a daughter: Deborah (Richard) Hubble of Grundy Center; his mother: Mary Possehl of Williamsburg; a step daughter: Bonnie (David) Hackert of Hedrick; two step sons: Robin (Carrie) Kolosik of Swisher and Shawn (Dawn) Kolosik of Walford; a brother: James (Mary) Possehl of Williamsburg; a sister: Doris (Gary) Kenney of Cedar Rapids, two brother-in-laws; Francis (LaVerne) Adams and Donald (Jill) Mason.16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl, and a great grandson Calan Anderson. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Monday, September 19, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Father Joseph Roost will preside. Burial will be at the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, with prayer service to be held at 3:00 pm. A Memorial fund has been established for the Iowa City Hospice.
