De Ann Mcwilliams

De Ann McWilliams was born February 6, 1957, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Dorothy (Lievens) McConnell. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1975. On June 11, 2016, De Ann was united in marriage to Lowell McWilliams in Brooklyn. They made their home in Guernsey, Iowa on the McWilliams Family Century Farm.

De Ann enjoyed the camaraderie of her co-workers at Poweshiek Water Association, where she worked from September 2000 until her retirement in January 2020. She considered them a part of her family. During her tenure as manager at PWA, she helped implement changes to streamline customer service accounts, accounts receivable and clean up policy issues. The last few years, she was researching a new program to enhance billing procedures and a portal for members to track their own billing and pay online. She passed away on December 25, 2020, at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa.

De Ann is survived by her husband Lowell; her children Kelsey Smith, Kayla (Chris) Lacina; her step-children, Shana (Rich) Heishman, Clint McWilliams and Travis (Lisa) McWilliams; grandchildren, Abby, Ryan and Brea; step-grandchildren Emily and Mia; her mother Dorothy McConnell; her brother David (Sue) McConnell; and many cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father Daniel McConnell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to East Poweshiek County Ambulance, Brooklyn, Iowa, or the Guernsey Methodist Church, Guernsey, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held for De Ann at a later date.
