David Swift, 72, Hillsboro, IA passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, IA. The body has been cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 19th at the Bayles Cemetery, southeast of Hillsboro. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. Born July 20, 1941 in rural Hillsboro, IA, David Dean was the son of Virgil Henry and Ruby Elaine (Moss) Swift. He graduated from Hillsboro High School. He attended DeVry Technical College in Chicago, IL. During the Vietnam War, he served his country in the United States Army. David worked a variety of occupations. He was a computer enthusiast and skilled in working with all kinds of electronics. He loved spending time at the family farm near Hillsboro. Survivors include a daughter, Jessie Duncan of Neola, IA; a granddaughter, Pheonyx Jordan of Neola, IA; four brothers, Roger (Freda) Swift of Cary, IL, Dennis Swift, Virgil Swift, Jr. and Terry Swift all of Salem, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; and a brother, Robert Swift.
