David Leon Rowe

Williamsburg-David Leon Rowe was born January 31, 1957, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Florine (Iburg) Rowe. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1975. David served in the United States Army and Navy. In 1988 he and his brother Louis graduated from the Harley Davidson Technology Institute with a certificate for motorcycle mechanics, in Phoenix, Arizona. 

David worked for Procter and Gamble in Iowa City for 30 years retiring in October of 2020. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. His greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter Braelynn and the rest of his family. David was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. David died on Friday, August 9, 2024 in a motorcycle accident near Hartford, South Dakota, at the age of 67 years.

He is survived by his daughter Sarah (Ed) Rogness, son Cody Thomas and significant other Christina Thomas all of Williamsburg; a granddaughter Braelynn and one on the way; a brother, Douglas (Diane) Rowe of Conroy; nephews, Aaron (Megan) Rowe, Azariah Rowe, Jacob (Emily) Rowe, Jared Rowe; nieces, Julie (Chad) Maxfield and Alisha (Brady) Calow, along with numerous other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and in-laws. David was preceded in death by his parents, brother Louis Rowe and a nephew Justin Rowe.

Celebration of life service will be 10:30 am on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.  Burial will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.  A memorial fund has been established for the Lutheran Interparish School Scholarship Fund.  Messages and tributes may be directed to www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
