CONROY - David Leroy Meyer was born October 12, 1934 in Williamsburg, Iowa the son of Floyd and Alice (Mumm) Meyer. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955-56. On March 22, 1957 he married Wanda Bray in Clovis, New Mexico, they later divorced. He lived in the Williamsburg & Conroy area for 32 years and Lubbock, Texas for 38 years where he has worked as a truck driver, W. M Smith Electric on electric motors, on the Jack Dricsoll farm and repairing cars and lawn mowers. He enjoyed doing things with his hands and was always willing to give a helping hand to others. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. David died on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the V.A. Health Care Center in Knoxville following a long illness at the age of 70 years. David is survived by a daughter - Cathy Lindsay and husband Bill; a grandson - Brandon Lindsay and wife Ladina; a granddaughter - Tiah Arnold and husband Jeff; 3 great grandchildren - Jarren Lindsay, Avree Arnold, Jevin Lindsay all of Lubbock, Texas; 7 brothers and sisters - Della Stevens and husband Orman of Deep River; Ruth Melsa of Marengo; Edward Meyer and wife Annette of Marengo; Vernon Meyer of Conroy; Floyd Meyer, Jr. and wife Marcella of South Amana; Richard Meyer and wife Marietta of Parnell; Leonard Meyer of Conroy; and the mother of his children and special friend - Wanda Meyer of Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter - Linda Meyer; and 2 brothers - Melvin Meyer and John Meyer and a brother-in-law Leonard Melsa. Celebration of Life Service will be11:00 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Pastor Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Sunday, November 7, 2004 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the American Cancer Society or V.A.
