David J. Schluter

David John Schluter, age 63 of Marengo, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Pastor Jeff Schanbacher officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

David is survived by two brothers, Donald Schluter, of Marengo and Daniel Schluter, of Toledo; two sisters, Darlene Lenoch, of Marengo, and Dorene (Kenneth) Wilcox, of Victor; a niece Chelsea Lenoch (Tom Dillon); and two nephews, Brian Lenoch and Brad Wilcox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Schluter and a nephew Brandon Collins.

David was born April 29, 1960, in Marengo, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Smith) Schluter. He graduated from Benton High School in 1979. David loved farming and continued to live and work on the family farm after his parents passed away. He enjoyed gardening and listening to HAM radio with his dad. He was an advocate for saving trees. David loved all animals, but most of all, he loved his family. At the end of his conversations with family and loved ones, he would always tell them, “I love you”.
