David D.Y. Schwartz

David D.Y. Schwartz was born July 6, 1965 in Adams County near Geneva, Indiana the son of David Y. and Ada (Hilty) Schwartz. David lived in Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri before moving back to Kalona 28 years ago. He was a handyman and worked various jobs. He enjoyed history and visiting with people. David died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic in Iowa City from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident on October 19, 2016, at the age of 51 years.

David is survived by nine siblings: Lucinda Ada Schwartz of Kalona; Emma A. (Paul) Hochstedler of Kalona; Katie A. (Henry H.) Eicher of Kalona; Lydia A. Schwartz of Kearny, AZ; Elizabeth A. (Kent) Alexander of Tabor; Johnny D.Y. (Carmen) Schwartz of Wellman; Samuel D.Y. (Serena) Schwartz of Webster; Crist D.Y. (Starla) Schwartz of Kalona and Joseph D. (Rachelle) Shetler of Kalona; three step sisters: Mandy Shetler, Martha Miller and Marie Bontrager; two step brothers: Jake and Daniel Shetler; and 60 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
