David Dean Marine was born June 5, 1963, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Clifford & Rita (Hanson) Marine. He was a 1981 graduate of Williamsburg High School and has lived in the Wellman community all of his life. He worked in construction and lawn care. David was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching Arissa's sports activities, baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. David died from complications of cancer on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City at the age of 48 years. He is survived by his children: Daniel Frese of Dallas, TX, Dalton Marine and Arissa Marine; his parents: Cliff & Rita Marine all of Wellman; 2 sisters: Deb (Kevin) Smith of Denver, IA,and Dian (Marti) Rosacker of Maple Grove, MN; 2 brothers: Denny (Sandy) Marine of Williamsburg and Doug (Denise) Marine of Manson, IA; 12 nieces and nephews; 1 great nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Clement & Catherine Hanson and Carroll & Luella Marine. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 4-7 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Wellman where a Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. A private family service will be held on Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman with Fr. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for David's children.
