David D. “Gonzo” Slaymaker

David D. “Gonzo” Slaymaker, age 55, of Marengo passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his home. Graveside service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday April 15, 2021 at the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo with Rev. Diane Vorhies officiating. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

David is survived by his daughters Stormy Slaymaker of Texas and Brandie Slaymaker of Indiana; grandchildren Michael Patton, Chloe Slaymaker, and Alexis Franco all of Texas; his mother LaRay Hawkins of Marengo; his brother Dale (Mindi) Slaymaker of Marengo; and his sisters Diane Maas of Marengo and Denise (Nick)­ Roberts of Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his father Melvin “Sheik” Slaymaker in 2011.

David Dean Slaymaker was born March 6, 1966, the son of Melvin and LaRay Knipp Slaymaker. He attended Iowa Valley High School and later received his GED. David worked for Iowa Erosion Control as a road construction worker, Red Top Trucking out of Ladora, and most recently his self-proclaimed Koszta Mountain Cars. David enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
