Darrell A. Hartz

Darrell A. Hartz, age 83, of Marengo, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at Compass Memorial Healthcare. Services will be held in the Spring of 2024. Bural will be at First Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is caring for Darrell and his family.

Darrell is survived by his sons, James Hartz, Allen Hartz, and Troy Hartz; five grandchildren, Tanner (Brooke) Hartz, Breanna Hartz, Katie (Matthew) Cronquist, Kevin Hartz, and Coltyn Hartz; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jordan Cronquist; and his brothers Maury Jr. Hartz and David Hartz.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Susie in 2020, and his brother Gary.

Darrell Allen Hartz was born November 24, 1940, in Marengo, the son of Maurice and Ethel Stanerson Hartz. He graduated from Conroy high school in 1959. Darrell was united in marriage to Susan Kay Benscoter on April 17, 1965, at First Lutheran Church in Conroy. He farmed on the family farm southeast of Marengo before working for Kinze’s. Darrell painted the wagons and planters as well as welded for the company for 20 years. He loved to tinker and fix just about anything. Darrell will be missed.
