Danny D. Mayberry, Sr., 64, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at his home following a brief illness. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will begin to receive friends at 2 p.m. A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Joseph Phung officiating. The family will continue to receive friends after the vigil. Inurnment will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, IA at a later date. A memorial has been established in his name. The son of Denzel and Louise (Walker) Mayberry, Danny Dean was born, August 9, 1949, in Peoria, IL. He graduated in 1967 from Manual High School in Peoria. He took welding classes from Illinois Central College. On February 22, 1969, he married Nadine M. Hopkins in Peoria. The couple moved to Mt. Pleasant, IA in 2007. For many years Danny was a supervisor at National Aluminum in Peoria. He was last employed as a welder for Baltimore Air Coil in Paxton, IL. Danny worked as a volunteer at the Southside Catholic School in Peoria, and was a Boy Scout leader. An avid outdoorsman, Danny enjoyed rabbit, squirrel and pheasant hunting. He had many dogs which he dearly loved. Favorite hobbies were doing yard work, working on cars and shooting pool. He was always willing to help a neighbor or a friend. He was a member of the Peoria Moose Lodge. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Peoria. Danny adored his grandchildren and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Nadine, of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a daughter, Monica (Tom) Dyar of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a son, Danny (Missy) Mayberry, Jr. of Wayland, IA; a brother, Stephen Mayberry of Peoria Heights, IL; and six grandchildren, Jason and Christopher Dyar, and Edith, James, Dakota and Freedom Mayberry. Preceding Danny in death are his parents; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Dyar.
