Danny Eversmeyer, 45, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, January 29, 2015, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, February 2nd , at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 E. Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3rd at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, 1302 E. Washington Street, Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Wapello Cemetery at a later date. As there are young children in the family a memorial has been established to the Eversmeyer Childrens' Trust in lieu of flowers. Born July 18, 1969 in Burlington, IA, Danny Lee was the son of Leonard Albert and Juanita Lea (Eubanks) Eversmeyer. He graduated from Wapello High School in 1987, and then attended Indian Hills Community College. On May 24, 2003, he married Addie A. Fenstermaker at the New London Christian Church. Danny served as a volunteer fireman in Wapello as a young adult. He was one of the first paramedics in Wapello. He was also a diver on the search and rescue team. Before beginning his career as a paramedic, he was employed for several years at Wal-Mart Distribution Center. His EMS career began in Washington County prior to joining the Henry County Health Center in 1997. Having a passion to teach all disciplines of the EMS field, he helped to develop the training center at the Henry County Health Center. He served on several boards and took pride in being Regional Faculty for the American Heart Association. Danny's love of sports led him to coach baseball for many years in Wapello. An avid Iowa Hawkeye and New York Yankees fan, Danny and Addie went to many games. He loved to travel and had visited Europe and Mexico. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Favorite pastimes included scuba diving, playing golf and tennis, camping, grilling, and he was very adventurous when trying new recipes. Survivors include his wife, Addie, of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four children, Summer Miller, of New London, IA, Aidan, Avery, and Ainsley Eversmeyer of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a sister, Joellen (John) Schantz of Wapello, IA; a half-sister, Kathy (Randy) Schlutz of Wapello, IA; a half-brother, Doug (Susan) Eversmeyer of League City, TX; his in-laws, Craig and Tamai Fenstermaker of Lockridge, IA; a brother-in-law, Andrew (Kara) Fenstermaker of North Liberty, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents and a nephew.
