Daniel L. Powell, age 71, died on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Parkview Manor in Wellman, Iowa. A Gathering of Remembrance will held at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the North Keokuk County Fire Station in South English. Burial will be at a later date in the South English Cemetery, South English, Iowa. Dan was born on September 2, 1943 in South English, Iowa, the son of John S. and Gertrude Ada (Kauffman) Powell. He graduated from North English High School and attended Goshen College in Goshen, IN. Dan served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. He farmed in the South English community all of his life. He is survived by his sister Kathleen Troyer and her husband Richard of Waxhaw, North Carolina; nieces Cynthia Yearous and Angela Troyer and nephew Richard Troyer Jr.. Dan was preceded in death by his father in October 1999 and mother in March 2009.
