Dan Simpson

James D. "Dan" Simpson 47, of Lockridge, IA, formerly of Argyle, IA, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Kevin Dice of the Round Prairie Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be held that same day, beginning at 10:00 a.m., where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to Round Prairie Baptist Church. Born March 15, 1969, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, James Daniel was the son of L.E. Simpson and Carol Ann (Daly) Simpson Atkinson. He was a 1987 graduate of Central Lee High School. Dan was a 2001 and 2005 graduate of Indian Hills Community College, with degrees in Associates of Applied Science. He continued his education receiving a B.A. in Technology Management from Buena Vista University in 2010. Dan previously had worked for Motorola, Riverside Paper, Performance Pipe, and at the time of his illness, was an instructor for Indian Hills Community College. Furthering his education was so important to Dan. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed anything automotive including car shows, drag racing, and a love of tools. He was a member of Round Prairie Baptist Church of Lockridge. Dan is survived by his father, L.E. Simpson of Montrose, IA; his mother, Carol Ann Atkinson of Keokuk, IA; a sister, Susan (John Menke) Simpson of Mt. Union, IA; a brother, Scott Simpson of Stronghurst, IL; a nephew, TJ Simpson of Salem, IA; and his girlfriend, Cathy Wellington of Mt. Pleasant, IA.Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Steve Simpson.
