Dan Eldon McAllister, 89, of Naples, FL formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013, in Naples. Born in Mount Union, Iowa on May 8, 1924 to the late Harry H. and Hazel E. (Kester) McAllister, Dan lived in Mt. Pleasant, IA prior to relocating to Naples in 1988. Working as a farmer prior to founding the McAllister Seed Company, Dan served as the past President of the Iowa Seed Dealers Association, Western Seedmans Association, Soy Bean Research Foundation and Mt. Pleasant Bank and Trust. More recently, he was a member of the North Naples United Methodist Church and Moorings Country Club. Dan enjoyed playing golf and watching football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Florida Gators. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Bette (Fleenor) McAllister; second wife, Christine (Magaha) McAllister; and brother, Harry H. McAllister, Jr. He is survived by his children, Rande A. (Dixie) McAllister of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Teresa A. McAllister of Naples, FL, and Scott E. McAllister of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a sister, Eileen Luke of Tyler, TX; and step-children, Lynne (Ric) Pritchett and Jeff (Linda) Roberts, all of Fort Myers, FL. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 5:00 PM, at North Naples United Methodist Church Chapel. Visitation will take on Sunday, September 15th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 E. Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant, IA. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 16th at 1:30 p.m. the Memorial Chapel with Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery.
