Dan Hedlund

HEDRICK-Dan Dwaine “Moose” Hedlund, age 71, of Hedrick, died Friday, September 29, 2023, at his home.
    Dan was born October 1, 1951, in Ottumwa, to Ross and Mildred (Phillips) Hedlund and graduated from Hedrick High School.  He was a self-taught steel guitar player, playing in many bands and traveling throughout the Midwest playing with various artists.  In addition to music, Dan loved to garden and farm with his father, Ross.
    Survivors include two nieces: Annette (Rich) Myers of Ottumwa and Peggy (Marshall) Coplen of Lawrence, Kansas and special friend: Teresa Fisher of Ottumwa.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dale Hedlund and David Hedlund in infancy.

    Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating.  The service will also be livestreamed on the Powell Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at McCormick Cemetery near Ottumwa.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
