Damiene R. Millard, 36, of Salem, IA, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Faith Christian Outreach Church with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to an educational fund for Damiene's children. Born October 30, 1973, in Chico, CA, Damiene Reed was the daughter of Carroll and Terri Hansen. She was a graduate of A.C.E. Christian School and attended Butte Community College in California. In 1994, Damiene moved to rural Wayland, IA, with her family. On September 30, 2000, Damiene married Wesley Aaron Millard at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. After moving to Wayland, Damiene first worked for Professional Designs in Lockridge, IA, on the floor and in the office. For the past fifteen years she has been employed as a secretary for Professional Designs and then RS Auto of Lockridge. She was raised in the Baptist faith and currently attended Faith Christian Outreach Church. Damiene put her children and husband first and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and listening to audio books. She was an excellent cook, who liked to watch various cooking shows. Making holiday candy was a specialty of hers. Along with her husband, Wesley, Damiene is survived by two young children, Eli Thomas and Karsten Carol; parents, Carroll and Terri Hansen of Wayland, IA; in-laws, Tim and Elaine Millard of Lockridge, IA; sister, Megan (Darren) Brown of Wayland, IA; and brother, Forrest (Deanne) Hansen of Wayland, IA. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Reed of Wayland, IA; maternal grandfather, George Daniels of Daytona, FL; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Paternal grandparents, Carroll and Lorraine Hansen, Sr. preceded Damiene in death.
