Dale N. Collingwood

Dale N. Collingwood, age 82, of Marengo passed away Monday June 20, 2022, at Compass Memorial Healthcare. Funeral service: 11:00 A.M., Friday June 24, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Military Honors will be conducted following the service by the Williamsburg VFW. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation: 4-7 P.M., Thursday June 23, 2022, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the Monarchs of Eastern Iowa or Essence of Life Hospice.

Dale is survived by his wife Iona of Marengo; children Beverly (Scott) Belzer of Conroy, Debra (Steve) Nelson of Fort Meyers Beach, FL., Lisa (“Buzz” Kevin) Peterson of Mediapolis, Iowa; Lori (Dave) Shepard of Marengo, Mike (Laury) Timm of Vermillion, OH., Jeff (Tami) Timm of Atkins, Kari (Tim) McCaw of Marengo; grandchildren Brandi Collingwood of Williamsburg, Dustin (Mandy) Wiebold of Conroy, Dana Wiebold of Letts, Ryan (Lindsay) Wichmann of Chicago, Stephanie Allison (Dylan Quint) of Round Lake, IL., Amanda (Tommy) Lavelle of Ankeny, Alissa (Jonathan) Rojas of Scottsdale, AZ., John (Brooke) Mathiasmeier of O’Fallon, MO., Sara (Cody) Hawkins of Wellman, Travis (Marina) Timm of Wellman, Tyler (Sondra) Shepard of Marengo, Katie (Aaron) Morton of West Liberty, Josh (Caitlin) Timm of Atkins, Jesse (Shania) Timm of Shellsburg, Jeni Timm of Atkins, Abby Haworth (Daryl Halvorson) of Cedar Rapids and Emma McCaw of Marengo; 10 great-grandchildren Allison Wiebold, Braxton Baines, Kaleb Lucas, Gracie Langabartles (Caleb), Megan Lucas, Wyatt Timm, Beau and Lexi Shepard and Klayton and Everette Morton. Also surviving Dale are two brothers Lyle (Sherry) Collingwood of Fairfax and Leslie (Rosie) Collingwood of Marengo.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marlene in 2008, a great-granddaughter Kaydence Rein Barker, a brother Larry Collingwood, and a nephew Treb Collingwood.

Dale Norman Collingwood was born August 8, 1939, in North English, Iowa, the son of Gerald L. Collingwood and Doris Charlene Bickford Collingwood. He received his education in the North English Schools, graduating from North English High School. He served with the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict. Dale worked as a heat and frost insulator with Local 81 from Cedar Rapids. Dale married Marlene Foubert July 19, 1959. She passed away December 23, 2008. He married Iona Mattison on August 24, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. The couple made their home in Marengo. Dale was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. His favorite past times were farming, fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved raising Monarch butterflies and watching the Hummingbirds. He especially enjoyed the annual family fishing trips to many different lakes.
