Craig Alan Kipling, 50, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jim Luder officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Forest Home Cemetery. On Sunday, June 3rd, an open family gathering will be held from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Macomb VFW Banquet Room. A memorial has been established to HCI Care Services (Hospice of Central Iowa) and the VFW Post #1921 in Macomb, IL. Born June 24, 1961, in La Harpe, IL, Craig was the son of Lynn F. and Jean (Blackhurst) Kipling. His formative years were spent in Blandinsville, IL and Farmington, IL. He graduated in 1980 from Northwestern High School, in Sciota, IL. He has also lived in Orlando, FL and New London, IA. For the past twenty years he has lived in Mt. Pleasant, IA. On February 14, 1999 he married Gina M. Vandenberg in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Craig worked for 13-1/2 years at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center as a loader/unloader in the shipping and receiving department. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. He volunteered as a basketball coach in the Rec Center League. Being outdoors and mowing the grass were Craig's favorite pastimes. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, Patches and Baby. He attended The Crossing Church in Macomb, IL. Survivors include his wife, Gina of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his mother, Jean Kipling of Macomb, IL; two step-sons, Richie Vandenberg, Jr. of Wapello, IA and Danny Vandenberg of Stockport, IA; one grandson, Landon J. Vandenberg of Burlington, IA; two brothers, Rodney Kipling of Conner, MT and Kurt Kipling of Macomb, IL; one sister, Darci Tran of Winfield, IA; and three nieces, Kaylie Duesenberg-Kipling of Colchester, IL, and Kelsey and Lexis Tran of Winfield, IA. Preceding Craig in death is his father, Lynn Kipling.
