Iowa City Dateline... Corinne M. Suter, age 93, of Iowa City, died Friday, June 24, 2004, at Bickford Cottage in Iowa City following a short illness. Corinne was born March 20, 1911, near South English, to Aldine and Bertha (Grove) Suter. She graduated from Kinross High School and MacPherson College in MacPherson, Kansas. Corrine lived most of her adult life in Iowa City. She worked as a librarian for the University of Iowa for many years before retiring at age of 72. She was a lifelong member of the English River Church of the Brethren near South English. Corrine was active in many social causes. She also served on the Board of Directors of Old Brick and was instrumental in the preservation of that important Iowa City building. Survivors include two nieces: Elizabeth Hoskins of Cedar Rapids and Cynthia Newell of Muscatine ; a nephew, David Suter of Evanston, Illinois; six great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: John and Ralph Suter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at the English River Church of the Brethren in rural South English with Pastor Beth Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Brethren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. A memorial fund has been established for the English River Church of the Brethren. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English is handling the arrangements.
