Williamsburg- Connie Kay Huedepohl was born September 16, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Howard N. and Eleanor (King) Schrock. She attended rural school near Windham, Iowa and graduated from Williamsburg High School. On February 18, 1961 Connie was united in marriage to Dennis Huedepohl at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Sharon Center. For a few years, she was employed at Peterson Drug Store Williamsburg, Iowa. She enjoyed teaching piano lessons and singing and playing organ for weddings and church functions. Connie's true passion was being a devoted mom and housewife. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where for many years she played organ, created and directed Catchfire singers (a 50 member high school choir), and later sang in the adult choir. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, antiquing, gardening and her beautiful flowers. Connie passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at Colonial Manor in Amana at the age of 75 years. She will be remembered for her compassion towards others, kindness, warmth and service to God and many.
Connie is survived by her high school sweetheart and spouse of 55 years, Dennis, of Williamsburg; four children: Jeff and Gretchen Huedepohl of Jefferson City, Mo, Scott and Andrea Huedepohl of Waterford, WI, Shelly and Bryce Brecht of Watkins, Iowa and Kristin and Andrew Ward of Walford, Iowa; 9 grandchildren: Benjamin, Seth, and Hannah Huedepohl, Aaron and Jacob Huedepohl, Kelsey and Tanner Brecht, and Nathan and Allison Ward; 1 great granddaughter: Emma; 6 siblings: Greg and Linda Schrock of Iowa City, Linda Nelms of Littleton, CO, Gil and Deb Schrock of Sunland, CA, Randy and Jen Schrock of Floyd Knobs, IN, Barb and Jim Murphy of Iowa City and Kerilee and Doug Gahring of Newnan, GA. ; sister-in-law Dianne and Kurt Metzner of Jackson, MS; Many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Essence of Life Hospice, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, or Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Amana, Iowa and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
