Cody J. Hawkins

Cody J. Hawkins, age 44 of Parnell, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023, at his home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Cody is survived by his wife Sara; four bonus children, Kaleb Lucas, Gracie Lucas, Megan Lucas and Destiny Bowers; his mother, Doris K. Hawkins; two siblings, Julie (Melissa) Hawkins and Craig (Angela) Hawkins; a grandmother (aka Grams), Judy Lawson; parents-in-law Dave and Lori Shepard; grandma-in-law, Iona Collingwood; two brothers-in-law, Tyler (Sondra) Shepard and Travis (Marina) Timm; a sister-in-law, Katie (Aaron) Morton; five nephews, Steven Hawkins, Klayton and Everette Morton, Beau Shepard and Wyatt Timm; two nieces, Amanda Hawkins and Lexi Shepard; a very close aunt and uncle, Rose Strasser and Steven Charles Van Blaricom; and other aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his faithful canine companions, Bruno and Gus. Cody was preceded in death by his father Russell Hawkins.

Cody was born July 17, 1979, in Marengo, the son of Russell and Doris (Van Blaricom) Hawkins. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1997. Cody was employed at Williamsburg Manufacturing. He was united in marriage to Sara Timm on March 11, 2020 in Marengo. Cody was a first responder and fireman for the Ladora and North English fire departments. He was a very determined and hardworking man. Although stubborn at times, Cody liked to joke around and would do anything for the ones he loved. He was known as “Uncle Coco” and was loved by many. Cody enjoyed fishing and hunting, was a good cook and was a Dale Earnhardt fan. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
