Clyde Rodger (Pete) Allgood was born on July 8, 1935, in Oskaloosa, IA, the son of Clyde Raymond and Margaret Tennis Allgood. He attended and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1954. Pete starred in track and competed at the state level on a couple occasions in high school. He served in the US Navy from 1955 until 1959. On October 21, 1956, Pete married Marilyn K. Zern in Oskaloosa. They made their home in California before moving to Williamsburg, IA. Pete worked as a tool and die maker at Amana Refrigeration for 10 years, and later at Williamsburg Manufacturing and Victor Manufacturing. After he retired they lived in Missouri and Arkansas and 4 years ago moved to North English, IA. Pete was a member and Deacon of the North English Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, popcorn and making people laugh, especially his grandchildren. Pete died on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at his home following an extended illness. He lived 72 years, 8 months and 19 days. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Allgood of North English, IA; a daughter Kellie (Eric) Block of Oxford, IA; a son Kurt (Julie) Allgood of Medical Lake, WA; 5 grandchildren: Amber (Mick) Scheetz, Desiree (Jeremy) Smith, Clinton Block, Evan Allgood and Lauren Allgood; and a great granddaughter Samantha Scheetz. Also surviving is a sister Sandra (Harry) Kool of Oskaloosa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the North English Christian Church with Pastor Kirk Statler officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2008, from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, IA at 1:30 P.M. on Monday. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. A memorial fund has been established for North English Christian Church and Iowa City Hospice.
