Clifford Edwin Carter

Williamsburg-Clifford Edwin Carter was born August 3, 1952 in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of James (Bud) and Jean (Brubaker) Carter. He graduated in 1970 from Deep River Millersburg High School. Cliff was united in marriage to Mary Randolph on October 7, 1989 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City. Cliff was a life long farmer, farming the home place near Millersburg. He has been a life long resident of Iowa County, moving to Williamsburg in 1989. He enjoyed being a fishing guide in Canada at the Lumberjack Lodge a few months out of the year. Along with fishing he also enjoyed hunting, playing cards, spending time with his family and having devotions with Pastor Sauser and his church family. Cliff was a devoted son to his mother Jean, he would visit her daily and take her treats. Cliff's great joy was his two sons, he was so proud of them. Cliff passed away Friday February 23, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics at the age of 65 years.

He is survived by his wife Mary; two sons: Michael and Charlie; his mother: Jean all of Williamsburg; four siblings: Linda (John) Dodds of Carlisle, Mike (Linda) Carter of Williamsburg, Jill (Dan) Smothers of North English and Ray (Michelle) Carter of Deep River and a number of nieces and nephews, along with his companion and nap taker Lilly the cat.
He was preceded in death by his father, an infant brother: Ronald and a brother-in-law: Larry Sanders.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Harvest Baptist Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at Yankee Point Cemetery near North English. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A general memorial has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
