Clifford Beckler

Clifford Beckler, 71, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Arbor Court. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the Bethel Mennonite Church north of Wayland, IA where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastor Herb Yoder and Pastor Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery. A general memorial has been established and will be determined later towards various missions. Born February 14, 1941 in Albany, Oregon, Clifford Wayne was the son of Ira and Marian (Boshart) Beckler. He spent his formative years in Albany, OR. He received his high school diploma from Western Mennonite School in Salem, OR. For 28 years he resided in Lebanon, OR where he rebuilt electric motors. In 1984 he moved to Wayland, IA. For the last 18 years he lived in Mt. Pleasant where he worked for Mt. Pleasant Electric. He retired in December 2005. After retirement he did custodial work at Wayland State Bank in Mt. Pleasant. Clifford was a past president of the Lion's Club of Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in Wayland. He was a Sunday school teacher at Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Mt. Pleasant. He most recently attended Pilgrim Nazarene Church in Mt. Pleasant. Clifford was known for his dry sense of humor. He enjoyed following college football and basketball games. Survivors include a sister, Naomi Roth of Albany, OR; a brother, Delmar (Mildred) Beckler of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a sister-in-law, Edna Beckler; twelve nieces, Bette Prevo, Janet Winder, Donna Befus, Jeanette Boyack, Carol Redding, Helen Trask, Mary Stutsman, Jane Leichty, Elaine Stutsman, Ardie Frees, Sharon Blakley and Beverly Elmore; and eight nephews, Ken Hamilton, Jay, Doug, Lester and Verlin Byers, and Gerald, Dean and Duane Beckler. Also surviving are numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding Clifford in death were his parents; an infant brother; a brother, Truman Beckler; two sisters, Ardis Byers and Opal (Hamilton) Rice; and a nephew, Ronald Byers.
