SIGOURNEY-Clement P. Wehr, age 90, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney following a brief illness. Clement was born June 14, 1916, in North Plank Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, to Nicholas and Christina (Bensmiller) Wehr and received his education in Plank # 9 country school. He served in the United States Army during World War II from September 10, 1942 until February 16, 1946. Clement farmed in the Sigourney area and moved into Sigourney at the age of 75. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney and the American Legion Post # 19 and enjoyed playing solitaire. Survivors include one sister: Caldona Kitzmann of Sigourney; three nieces: Mary Lewis and husband Richard, Anne Zavis and husband Scott and Jeanette Gent and husband Hubert; one nephew: Robert Wehr and wife Paulette; six great nieces; four great nephews; two great great nieces and five great great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Clara Wehr and Marguerite Himler; one brother: Joseph Wehr; one nephew: Russell Wehr; one great niece: Natasha Wehr and one great great nephew: Jacob Lewis. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sigourney with military rites by American Legion Post # 19 and Lacey Kerr V.F.W. Post # 2308. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney, where the rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.
