Clement Dermody

Parnell- Clement Dermody was born June 18, 1916 near Williamsburg, Iowa. The son of Arthur and Mary Jane (Duffy) Dermody. He attended Parnell School. Clement was united in marriage to Blanche Marie O'Rourke on May 21, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell. The couple lived in Williamsburg for a short time, then moved to their new home on a farm east of Parnell. Along with being a life long farmer, he worked at Iowa Manufacturing and over 20 years at the University of Iowa, Burge Hall. Clement was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. He enjoyed farming and gardening. Clement passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 98 years.

He is survived by three sons: James Dermody of Amana, Larry (Mary) Dermody and Pat (Sheryl) Dermody all of Parnell; a daughter: Diane (Doug) Rowe of Conroy; a brother: Arthur (Marietta) Dermody of Williamsburg; 13 grandchildren: Tracey (Troy) Eickstaedt of Tallahassee FL, Christine (Doug) Austin of Shoreview, MN, Julie (Ted) Ostronic of Omaha, NE, Teresa (Mitchell) Kelchen of Cedar Rapids, Randy Dermody of Parnell, Ryan (Denise) Dermody of Waverly, Amber (Luke) Bayer of Victor, Rachel Dermody of Mankato, MN Aaron (Megan) Rowe of West Des Moines, Azariah Rowe of Conroy, Jacob (Emily) Rowe of Eldridge, Jared Rowe of Amana and Alisha Rowe of Cedar Falls; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Blanche, grandson Justin Rowe and 3 sisters: Mary Anderlik, Margaret Eichhorst and Bernice Skarbek.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Fr. Joseph Roost will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery, Holbrook. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 - 7:00 PM with a rosary and prayer service at 3:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to Friends of Old St. Michael's.
