Clayton Joseph Yoder

October 19, 1930 — December 28, 2016

IOWA CITY - Clayton Joseph Yoder was born October 19, 1930 in rural Wellman, Iowa, the son of Alva and Lydia (Hochstetler) Yoder. He graduated for Iowa City City High and the University of Iowa with a business degree. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 10, 1955 Clayton was united in marriage to Beverly Crain in Clarinda. They lived in Iowa City and Indiana, before moving to Grand Island, Nebraska where they lived for 40 years. Clayton worked in sales for Curtis 1000 and was a sales supervisor. In 2002 Clayton and Beverly returned to Iowa City. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Iowa City. He enjoyed watching and playing golf, traveling, and was an avid walker. Clayton passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 86 years.
Clayton is survived by his wife Beverly of Iowa City; a daughter Deborah (Terry) Erb of Wellman; 2 grandchildren, Aaron Erb of Kalona, Lindsay (Jason) Widmer of Wellman; 3 great grandchildren, Abe, Emma, and Owen Widmer; and a sister Dorothy (Phil) Marner of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.

There will be no services at this time. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is caring for Clayton and his family.
