Kalona-Clara Coblentz Miller was born April 3, 1921 in Glendive, Montana, the daughter of Dan and Fannie (Schrock) Coblentz. She attended school in Milo, North Dakota. Clara was united in marriage to Mahlon A. Miller on October 8, 1944 in Kalona. She has lived in the Kalona area since 1942. Clara was a member of Sunnyside Conservative Church in Kalona being active in teaching Sunday School. Clara enjoyed her sewing circle, quilting and gardening. Clara died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Pleasantview Home in Kalona after a extended illness at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 15 days. She is survived by her husband Mahlon; a daughter: Anna Fern (John) King and a son: Lavern (Leora) Miller all of Kalona; 9 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren a brother-in-law: Andy Slabaugh of Kalona and a sister-in-law: Rosemary Coblentz of Oxford. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter: Alta Marie Miller, two brothers: Harley Coblentz and Dave Coblentz and five sisters: Barbara Bender, Annie Slabaugh, Mattie Hohnberger, Tillie Slabaugh and Lizzie Coblentz in infancy. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday, March 21, 2008 at Sunnyside Conservative Church in Kalona. Pastor Floyd Helmuth, David L. Yoder and Floyd Yutzy will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 to8:00 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kalona with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8.
