Christopher R. Lyman

d. February 10, 2022

Christopher Roman Lyman, age 49, was called home early on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Chris grew up in Marengo, IA, and graduated from Iowa Valley High School. He attended numerous other schools, living for a time in Texas and Germany. Chris was an incredibly hard worker, wrapping up his career in a job he loved at Kinze Manufacturing. He married his true love Kristy in 2013 and settled in the beautiful Amana Colonies.

Chris was a true American and country at heart. He loved his family, hard work, country music, good friends, Chevy trucks, hunting dogs, and old westerns. He believed in keeping your word, being a good Dad, marriage meaning forever, the Pledge of Allegiance, thanking our farmers and supporting our troops. Over the years, you could find Chris volunteering at the Haunted Barn, driving in demo derbies, attending small town Fourth of July parades, watching Cubs baseball, Dallas Cowboy or Iowa Hawkeye football. He loved four wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, working on old trucks, telling stories, being with his children and exploring the beauty of the great outdoors.

Chris is survived by Parents Darla (Richard) Brandon, and William Lyman; Wife, Kristy Lyman; Children, Lane Lyman, Codie Lyman, Austyn Slaybaugh, and Brittny Slaybaugh; Siblings, Tina Tuttle, Scott Lyman, Sean Lyman, Julie Brandon, Jami Haga; Grandchildren, Leonidas Slaybaugh, Brighton Carnicle, and Beckett Kelley. Many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, In-laws, friends and fellow cancer warriors. Preceding him in death Stepmother Loretta Lyman; Grandparents Floyd and Estelle (Lester Holder) White, Albert and Ruth Lyman, Howard and Cleo Tuttle.

As bravely as he lived and shared his life, so too he passed. Chris fought a very long heroic battle against cancer and inspired many along the way with his true grit. He was so much more than his struggles and cancer. His ever-present smile and laugh were truly contagious. He always made the best of any situation, rooted for the underdog, and never ever gave up. He loved fiercely and maintained a daring young hearted spirit. Anywhere he went, he always found a friend. Chris bravely passed away with his trademark strength, heart, and determination fully intact. Thank you to all who have been a part of his life's purpose.
