Dodds E. "Chip" Charleston, 50, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from injuries sustained in a car accident. Open visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. There will be no family visitation time. Born in North Hollywood, CA, on March 11, 1956, Chip was the son of Dodds and Rita Schmidt Charleston. Chip graduated from California State University in Northridge, CA in 1981, with a master's degree and from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK with a Ph.D in Psychology in 1984. He married Lynn Shirai in Camarillo, CA in 1981. The couple later divorced. Recently, he married Bonny Davis in Fairfield, IA. Chip spent his youth in Camarillo, CA. He moved to Fairfield, IA in 1984. A professor of psychology at Iowa Wesleyan College, Chip served as the division chair of human studies. He was a multi-talented musician and a loving husband and father. Along with his wife, Bonny, Chip is survived by one son, Sean Charleston of Fairfield, IA; two daughters, Malia and Emi Charleston, both of Fairfield, IA; his mother, Rita Charleston of Camarillo, CA; one brother, John Charleston of CA; and three sisters, Tina Bailie of CA, Colleen O'Neill of AZ, and Celeste Spaethe of FL. He is also survived by one step-daughter, Ann Davis, and one step-son, John Davis, both of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Chip was preceded in death by his father.
