Parnell-Cheryl Ann Long was born January 5, 1947 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Cecil and Catherine Bernadette McCarty Long. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1965 and Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri in 1970. Cheryl worked as a restaurant manager in Iowa, California and Minnesota. She enjoyed watching sports and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell. Do to health problems Cheryl became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English in April of 2002. Cheryl died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the care center after a long illness at the age of 57 years, 9 months and 29 days. Cheryl is survived by her parents: Cecil Long of Parnell and Bernadette Long of the English Valley Care Center in North English; a daughter: Justine Ann Long of Apple Valley, Minnesota; a sister: Cathy and husband David Malloy of Williamsburg; two brothers: Dennis and wife Pat Long and Greg and wife Laurie Long all of Aurora, Illinois. Mass of a Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell. Fr. Joseph Roost will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 5, 2004 at the church from 4 to 8 p.m., there will be a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service is caring for services.
