Charlotte M. Roudabush, age 82 of Brooklyn, died Saturday April 22, 2017 at Brooklyn Community Estate after brief battle with lung cancer. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn, with Rev. Cory Close officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 3:30 -7:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Scripture Service at 7:30. A memorial fund has been established.

Charlotte was born on October 21, 1934 to Gerald and Mary Brien Graney of Perry, IA.She was the eldest of three children.  Charlotte had 2 brothers, James and Patrick.  She graduated from Perry High School and went to Minneapolis, MN to become a lab technician.  It was through her job of drawing blood where she met Duane Roudabush, who turned out to be the man she would marry on April 14, 1956.  They celebrated  for 44 years before Duane’s passing.  Along with farming, Charlotte and Duane owned and operated Char-Du Mfg in Brooklyn.

Charlotte, “Char”  was active with her parish at St Patricks.  Here she was part of the Alter and Rosary Society.  She also was involved with the American Legion Auxiliary, Poweshiek Democratic Society, Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the Activity Center and volunteered at Brooklyn Community Estates. Charlotte, in the last few years became very interested family history genealogy. She so enjoyed the art of conversation and voicing her thoughts on many subjects. When visitors came she would insist that they make themselves at home as her motto was “room service has been discontinued.”  Char was most often seen and most happy when she was behind her sewing machine creating endless articles of clothing and crafts.

She is survived by her 7 children,  Debra Ann Easley( Jim), Dennis Duane(Dee), Deanna Rose Staudt(John), David Neal, Donald Paul(Tracy), Diane Kathleen Cadden(Kenny), Daniel Craig(Leigh); 23 grandchildren, Anthony Orand, Stephanie Roudabush, Jennifer Roudabush, Nicole Staudt, Kimberly Staudt, Jessica Fields, Josh Kline, Christopher Roudabush, Brandon Roudabush, Ryan Roudabush, Ashley Roudabush, Shane Roudabush, Aurelia Roudabush, James Cadden, Emily Cadden, Kyle Cadden, Eric Cadden, Brian Cadden, Katelynn Cadden, Ashleigh Heishman, Amber Roudabush, Aaron Roudabush, Amanda Roudabush: 3 great grandchildren, Luke Roudabush Carson Houghton, Logan Roudabush, and countless friends.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, J Duane Roudabush, daughter Denise Eileen, brothers James Graney, Patrick Graney, and her parents Gerald and Mary B. Graney.
