UNIVERSITY PARK-Charles Rotzinger, age 70, of University Park, formerly of Richland and Keota, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Mahaska Health Partnership Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Charles was born July 10, 1943, in Brighton, to Carl and Marcella (White) Rotzinger and received his education in Rubio schools. On June 11, 1962, he married Gertrude Squibb in Keota. The couple lived in Keota for 10 years, then in Washington for three years before moving to Richland. Charles drove a semi in partnership with his brother for Rotzinger Trucking for 37 years, then drove for 10 years for Adrian Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, giving people a hard time and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include three sons: Terry Rotzinger of University Park, Tony Rotzinger of Ottumwa and Gary Zehr of Williamsburg, Kentucky; daughter: Connie Thomas of Corning; five grandchildren: Brad Haifley, Carl James Thomas, Raquela Rotzinger, Derek Rotzinger and Isaac Rotzinger; ten siblings: Dale, Mike, Roger, Paul, Marian, Virginia, Betty Ann, Bonnie, Ronnie and Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gertrude in 1993; daughter Sarena Marie in 1970 and sister Mary Jane. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Pastor Sheldon Henderson officiating. There will be no visitation. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Charles and his family.
