Charles Lee Erue

Charles L. Chuck Erue, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.



Per his request, his body will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 10:00 12:00 p.m. on August 18th at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Please dress casually. Poppa would be in his t-shirt, jeans, suspenders, and hat with his tape measure on his hip. Memorials may be directed to HCI Hospice Care Services. Born on August 2, 1936, in Millersburg, IA, Charles Lee was the son of Harry Frank and Edith Pauline (Chittick) Erue. He was a graduate of Millersburg High School. On January 16, 1956, Charles enlisted in the United States Army where he served for two years and continued his service in the Army Reserves for an additional three years.



Charles was united in marriage to Susan Scott Williams Harbour in Mt. Pleasant on November 9, 1984. For twenty-one years, Charles worked for Bluebird Midwest Bus Company as an installer. He retired in 1998.



Spending time with family was Charles priority. He loved dogs, especially his boxers. Charles will long be remembered as a master woodcrafter, leaving many of his beautiful and proficiently designed gifts for his family members and friends. For many years he earned numerous blue ribbons and best in show for his wood products entered in the Henry County Fair.



Survivors include his wife, Susan of Mt. Pleasant, IA; four sons, Charles Erue, Jr. of Lockridge, IA, Benjamin (Bobbi) Hodge of Nashville, TN, Scott (Brooke) Hodge of Cartersville, GA, and Christopher (Janelle) Harbour of Oskaloosa, IA; two daughters, Rhonda (Andrew) Brown of Wilton, IA, and Peggy (Kevin) Wellington of Mt. Pleasant, IA; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Frances (Robert) Hackett of Salem, IA, and Judith (Kenneth) Wilhite of Millersburg, IA.



Preceding Charles in death were his parents, a brother John Harry Erue and a niece, Connie Jo Erue.
