Charles (Chick) Lyle

January 5, 1925 — July 5, 2017

KEOTA-Charles E. (Chick) Lyle, age 92, of Washington, formerly of Keota, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Washington County Hospital.
Chick was born January 5, 1925, near Keota, to Guy and Ruth (Rittenhouse) Lyle. He attended Green Valley country school and graduated from Keota High School in 1941. After graduation he returned to the family farm. On February 20, 1947, he married Dorothy Ossman at the Keota Federated Church. The couple lived and farmed northwest of Keota until moving into Keota in 1980. Chick still made several trips out to the farm throughout the rest of his life before moving to independent living last fall. He was a member and regularly attended the United Church of Faith in Keota. After retirement from the farm he began running and enjoyed staying in shape by running in some 700 races over 27 years. He enjoyed and kept busy watching his grandchildren in all their different events, competitions and performances.
Survivors include three sons: Don Lyle of Vinton, Denny (Sharon) Lyle of Keota and Larry (Kris) Lyle of Keota; eight grandchildren: Cari (Nick) Khoo, Aaron (Sarah) Lyle, Allison (friend DJ Reimer) Lyle, Brandon (fiancé Andrea Sturdevant) Lyle, Zach Lyle, Caleb (Emily) Lyle, Elysha Lyle and Mariah Lyle; four great grandchildren: Emma, Rena, Elleana and Collin and two sisters: Reta Gullett of Indianapolis, Indiana and Shirley Bohr of Wellman. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Dorothy in 1998 and four brothers: Richard, Francis, Jim and Robert in infancy.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Rev. Mike Druhl officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota.
