Chanpheng Dary

Chanpheng Dary, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25th from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the services. Inurnment will be in the Glendale Cemetery at a later date. Born May 21, 1955, in Vientiane, Laos, Chanpheng was the daughter of Khamsy and Bounmy Baythavong. She spent her formative years and received her education in Vientiane. On May 1, 1975, she married Sone Dary in Vientiane. Chanpheng moved to the United States in 1981 and became a U.S. citizen in 1994. She worked for fifteen years as a production worker for Hearth and Home Technologies. Chanpheng was also a caring homemaker who enjoyed gardening and was declared the best cook ever by her family and friends. She was well known for her kindness and generosity. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Along with her mother and husband, Chanpheng is survived by a son, Phetsamone (Mao) Dary; a daughter, Chanthasone (Channy) Dary; two grandchildren, Tyler Lovan and Olivia Dary; two brothers, Khankap Baythavong and Keophouvanh Baythavong; and a sister, Sandra Morakot. She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Chanthaphone (Gee) Dary.
