Chad Bachman

Chad Michael Bachman, 38, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, died Friday, July 03, 2009, at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City, MO. Chad is the son of former residents Bonnie (Wilson) Bachman and the late Dennis Bachman. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel with Pastors Kelly Slagel and Pam Unruh officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel following the service until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be prior to the memorial service at Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Chad M. Bachman Scholarship Fund at Southeastern Community College. On-line condolences may be sent to www.olsonpowell.com The son of Bonnie Bachman and the late Dennis Bachman, Chad Michael was born July 25, 1970, in Naperville, IL. He was a 1988 graduate of Mendham High School in Mendham, NJ. Chad was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated from Southeastern Community College in Burlington, IA. He attended Iowa State Univ., majoring in City Planning and Landscape Architecture. He was able to complete work through the first semester of his senior year when health issues prevented him from completing the degree. In 2000 Chad moved to Florida and has lived there ever since. Chad played little league baseball and was on the high school soccer team. He also played saxophone in the school band. He was a Boy Scout and attended Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. While attending Southeastern Community College, he was a statistician for the Blackhawks basketball team. Chad was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Naperville, IL. A member of the Society of Plastic Engineers, he was the publicity chairman for the South Florida Section. Chad loved spending time with his family. An avid reader, Chad was an ever optimistic Cub's fan, as well as a Bears and ISU Cyclone fan. He enjoyed politics, music, travel, and playing billiards. He liked history, photography, and was a car buff. Chad spent time building models, cooking, and playing internet games. Chad is survived by his mother, Bonnie Bachman of Rolla, MO; his grandfather, Wilbur Wilson of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and aunts and uncles, Wanda and Sid Brooks of Wayland, IA and Ray and Regina Wilson of New London, IA. Other survivors include several cousins, Tina and Jim Conwell and their children Kayla, Sara, Grace, and Tanner; Tricia and Ken Stirm and their daughter Hailey; Tyler Brooks; Shawn and Julie Kiene and their children Karina, Kierstin, Kenneth and Kourtney; and Shantel and Dan Winger. Along with his father, Dennis Bachman, Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dessel and Walter Bachman and Josephine Wilson; an aunt, Linda Magneson; and an uncle, Edwin Wilson.
