Cephas A. Kauffman

Cephas A. Kauffman was born August 18, 1945 in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Abe and Alta (Otto) Kauffman. He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church in his youth and remained a faithful member until his death on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the age of 69 years, 4 months, and 5 days.
On March 30, 1967 he was united in marriage to Freda Bender in Kalona, Iowa. On April 21, 1996 he was ordained minister.
Survivors include his wife Freda, of Kalona, eleven children and spouses: David (Kaylene) Kauffman, Regina (Ervin) Miller, Marcus (Grace) Kauffman, Irene (Cephas) Miller all of Kalona. Edna (Morris) Mast of Fairfield, Iowa. Abe (Lovina) Kauffman, Dorcas (Perry) Ropp, Ada, at home, Nettie (Daniel) Miller, Jonas (Kathryn) Kauffman, Joanne (Andrew) Mast, Philip and Kathryn Miller all of Kalona. 60 grandchildren, 7 siblings: Wilma (Willis) Yoder, Harley (Katie) Kauffman, Inez (Vernon) Yoder, all of Kalona. Rachel (Willis) Hershberger of Windsor, MO. A brother-in-law Joseph T. Miller of Pearisburg, VA. Norman (Judy) Kauffman of Smyrna, ME, Irene (Jerry T.) Miller of Windosr, MO, Mary Lou (Ivan) Borntrager of Kalona.
Preceding Cephas in death were his parents, Abe and Alta Kauffman, a sister Rhoda, and 3 grandchildren, Heidi Kauffman, Gabriel Kauffman and Sharon Mast.


Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Ervin Miller residence at 1869 110th St in rural Kalona. Minister in charge is Elmer T. Miller. Burial will be in the Brenneman Cemetery in rural Kalona. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday and will continue all day on Monday at the Ervin Miller residence. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
