KEOTA-Celeste Woltering, age 86, of Keota, died Monday, December 2, 2024, at Halcyon House in Washington.
Celeste was born April 27, 1938, in Keokuk County, the daughter of John B. and Caecilia (Peiffer) Weber and graduated from Keota High School in 1956. On February16, 1957, she married Joseph Woltering at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. A lifelong resident of the Keota community, Celeste drove a school bus for Keota Community Schools for over 50 years, retiring in 2020. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. Celeste enjoyed going to the casinos, traveling, making it to 47 states, collecting dolls, the Iowa Hawkeyes, gardening, spending time with her family and hosting family gatherings.
Survivors include three sons: Tom (Lisa) Woltering of Keota, Tim (Dawn) Woltering of Keota and Terry (Mary Jo) Woltering of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren: Casey, Logan, Mallory, Conner, Jordan, Alex, Brycen, Curtis and Katie; 15 great grandchildren and brother: Tony Weber of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Joseph in 1998; son: Teddy at birth; three sisters: Bernadine Conklin, Rita Vogel and Martha Kleinmeyer and nine brothers: Norbert Weber, Wilford Weber, Cletus Weber, Doc Weber, Claire Weber, Ed Weber, Mark Weber, Luke Weber and Paul Weber.
Per Celeste’s wishes, she will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.
