Catherine Marie Harding, age 81, died of cancer at her home in Coralville on Monday, August 23, 2004. The family will greet friends at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English on Wednesday, August 25th form 8 am to 10:30 am. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Don Ridenour officiating. Burial will be in Sorden Cemetery near Keswick. Catherine Marie Harding was born on May 26, 1923 in Paterson, New Jersey, a daughter of Garry and Ida Stoffels Van Slooten. Catherine worked a number of years in the Admitting Office at Boswell Hospital in Sun City, AZ, retiring in 1988. Since moving to Iowa, she has volunteered at both RSVP and Mercy Hospital in Iowa City and at Lantern Park in Coralville. She is survived by a daughter Joyce Bennett of Kennewick, WA; a son Don Harding of Las Vegas, NV; a sister Jean Machado of Coralville, IA; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; a nephew John Machado and wife Barbara of Coralville. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Garry Van Slooten Jr.
