Carroll W. Troyer was born January 28, 1930 in Iowa County near Wellman, Iowa the son of Ezra and Martha (Yoder) Troyer. He attended the Greene Center rural school. On March 7, 1953 he was united in marriage to Arlene Hansen in Iowa City. He has lived in the Wellman, Kalona and Iowa City communities where he farmed for 22 years, worked for Yoder Feeds for 3 years, and the University of Iowa for 15 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he had served on the church board, and was a member of the Washington Township Optimist Club. He enjoyed collecting anything John Deere especially farm toys. Carroll died on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville following a lengthy illness at the age of 76 years. Carroll is survived by his wife Arlene of Iowa City; two sons - Dennis Troyer and wife Vicki of Olathe, Kansas; Randy Troyer and wife Sharon of Iowa City; four grandchildren - Shannon, Ben, Grant and Brandon Troyer; and two brothers - Lynn Troyer of Wellman and Larion Troyer of Puyallup, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donn Troyer.
A memorial fund has been established for the First Church of The Nazarene.
