CEDAR RAPIDS-Carrie Susan Aller, age 39, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly May 1, 2007, in rural Harper. Carrie was born October 17, 1967, in Sigourney, Iowa, to Donald Lee and Bethany Ann (Butler) Aller. She attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School and graduated from Keota High School in 1986. Carrie then went on to the University of Northern Iowa, where she received her bachelor's degree in social work. Carrie was previously employed at REM in Cedar Rapids and ARC in Long Beach, California. While in California she volunteered with the Special Olympics and was on her condominium association board. She enjoyed working with the mentally handicapped, her pets, baseball and playing with her niece, Bailey, and nephews, Ryan and Alex. Survivors include her mother: Bethany Wood and husband Everett of Cedar Rapids; brother: Jon Aller and wife Rhonda of Iowa City; sister: Donna Miller and husband Scot of Cedar Rapids; grandmother: Margaret Butler of Sigourney; two nephews: Ryan and Alex Aller; one niece: Bailey Miller; one step-niece: Jessica Miller; two step brothers, their wives and children. She was preceded in death by her father: Donald Aller; grandparents: Edmund and Marie Aller and Gene Butler and her special cat Bhudda. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids with Chaplain Dave Soldner officiating. Burial will be Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
