Carolyn Millice

Wellman- Carolyn Cozette (Wirtz) Millice was born March 9, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of  Dr. R.W. and Pauline (Parry) Wirtz. Carolyn graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1958, following graduation Carolyn married her high school sweetheart James Dennis Millice on October 15, 1961, in Washington, Iowa. She attended Paris Beauty School in Cedar Rapids. Carolyn was a beautician for 9 years, running the Elite Beauty Salon in Wellman. She then worked as a housekeeper at Highlander Inn for 14 years and Mid-Prairie Schools for 6 years. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Lioness Club,
National Guard Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Ladies and worked with Cub Scouts for 8 years. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, traveling and had visited all 50 states and Europe. Carolyn passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital at the age of 84. 

She is survived by her husband, James of Wellman, son: Andrew Millice of Coggon and a grandson Chase Millice. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Anthony Millice, stepmother  Korene Wirtz, a brother Dr. Larry L. Wirtz, and sister-in-law Carolyn Wirtz

A Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A private family burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Wellman QRS. Messages and tributes can be sent to the family at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
