Carolyn M. Traver

Carolyn M. Traver, age 71, of Marengo, passed away, Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Compass Memorial Hospital, Marengo. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the family in Carol’s name.

Carol is survived by her three children, Cory Traver, of Cedar Rapids, Stacy (Chris) Jordan, of Lubbock, TX, and Kimberly Kopet (Tony D’lapico), of Newton; grandchildren, Courtney (Oscar) (Chupes), Alex (Rachael), Taylor, Zach, Chase, Colton, Carolyn, TJ and Brady; great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sharon Blankenship, of WA, Annette Engel, WA, and Suzanne Engel, of WA; and a brother Steve (Louann) Engel, of WA. She was preceded in death by her parents Verl and Rita Engel and her husband Kerry in December 2021.

Carolyn Marie Engel was born February 26, 1950 in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of Verl and Rita (Brown) Engel. She was united in marriage to Kerry Traver on September 27, 1968, in Rock Island, IL. Carol loved and found her strength in the Lord and became a Christian minister at Meadow Hill Church, in rural Homestead. She had found her calling. Her work as a minister included much more than just the church. Carol preformed several weddings and funerals over the years. Family was very important to Carol and meant the world to her.
