Carolyn Kauffman

Kalona- Carolyn Kay Kauffman was born August 16, 1939 the daughter of Joseph R. and Mabel (Bushman) Miller. She attended country school in Cosgrove and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Iowa City. On June 18, 1958 Carolyn was united in marriage to John F. Kauffman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. Carolyn worked for Drs. Zasadny and Manly and in the kitchens at Highland High School and Kalona Elementary School. She was a member of the Kalona Christian Fellowship Church, Burning Bush bible study, and card club in Riverside. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, cooking, traveling with John, taking care of her huge vegetable garden, and crossword puzzles. Carolyn passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 in Kalona at the age of 77 years.

Carolyn is survived by three children: Teresa Myers of Kalona; Amy (Greg) Almeida of Buda, TX and Eric Kauffman of Austin, TX and 7 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 2004, an infant son David, and two brothers: Leo Miller and Eugene Miller.

Celebration Of Life Service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Kalona Christian Fellowship in Kalona. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be Monday, October 24, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice.
