Carolyn Jo Irla-Wandling, 61, Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 12, 2011 at her home surrounded by family and friends. The body has been cremated as per her wishes. There will be no visitation or memorial service. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Born December 9, 1949 in Iowa City, Carolyn was the daughter of Joe and Evelyn Irla. She was raised in Fairfield, IA before moving to California in 1970. For 22 years she worked as a drafter for Amdahl and Ampex computer companies. She was joined to the love of her life Steve Wandling in a beautiful and moving wedding ceremony two days before her passing. Carolyn lived out her lifelong dreams with Steve on their 20 acre ranch in Mt. Pleasant where she was able to commune with nature, fish, did crafts, loved her animals and farmed until her final earthly days. Everything always looked more amazing through her beautiful blue eyes. Carolyn was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Along with her husband, Steve, Carolyn is survived and remembered by her mother, Evelyn Whiting; three children, Darrell, Tonya and John John; her sister Christine Wilkerson; nine grandchildren, DJ, Aaron, Krista, Mikey, Christian, Angelina, Stephanie, Jacob and Bailey; and a very special friend and caregiver, Collette Groenewald. She will always be remembered as a kind, sweet, loving, gentle and eternally positive woman. She is preceded in death by her father and one sister, Charlene Irla.
