Carolyn E. "Betsy" Breedlove, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, formerly of Texas, died Thursday, January 31, 2008, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant. Born April 5, 1926, in Griffin, GA, Carolyn Elizabeth was the daughter of Charles P. and Mary Mullins Archer. She graduated from Griffin High School. On November 27, 1947, she married James G. "Jerry" Breedlove in Griffin. The Breedloves lived in Atlanta, GA while Jerry attended Georgia Tech. The couple later moved to Signal Mountain, TN for 20 years, while Jerry was employed by the American Lava Company in Chattanooga, TN. They also lived in Burnsville, MN, Bullard, TX and Dallas, TX. Carolyn moved to Mt. Pleasant two and a half years ago to be near her daughter, Mary Morris. "Betsy" was a homemaker. She was an avid golf enthusiast, enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing bridge. She served on the Altar Guild of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Signal Mountain, TN. She is survived by her husband, James "Jerry" Breedlove of Columbia, MD; three daughters, Mary (Gary) Morris of Fairfield, IA, Sally (Robert) Byrne of Fulton, MD, and Donna Breedlove of Minneapolis, MN; one step-son, Larry (Joann) Wing of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and ten step great-grandchildren. Mrs. Breedlove was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Ellen Archer. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Tyler, Texas. Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Manor Care Center Activity Fund in the memory of Carolyn Breedlove, and may be left at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel who is assisting the family with local arrangements.
