Carol Messer

Carol R. Messer, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at her home.Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jeff McPheron officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. Pleasant, IA, Carol Rae was the daughter of Harold L. and Geraldine (Spearman) King. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1963 followed by business college in Burlington, IA. After college, she moved to Colorado Springs, CO, briefly before returning to Burlington. On April 27, 1968, she married Rallon Messer in Mt. Pleasant. They lived in Jamestown, ND, from 1968 to 1974 then moved back to Mt. Pleasant. For 35 years, Carol was an independent distributor for Watkins and achieved the position of Silver Manager. She was involved in many Watkins Award Events.Carol was very active at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church serving in many positions and on many committees over the years. She was currently the treasurer for the church and the United Methodist Women. Carol was a Marion Township Trustee and a part of TOPS Weight Loss Group where she served as treasurer. Along with spending time with family and friends, she loved to read. She also enjoyed playing cards and games and gardening. Her favorite flowers were yellow roses.Along with her husband, Carol is survived by her son, Bryan Messer of Mt. Pleasant, IA; three brothers, John Alan King of Phoenix, AZ, Wayne (Margie) King, of Surprise, AZ, and H. Dean (Mary) King of Mt.
